Title: David Dame vs Neil lass sleepover skit by Jill W. and Miss A. Our Skit __________________________________ Characters: Jill for the Neil lasses & Adrienne for the David Dames __________________________________ Story line: Adrienne and Jill are having a sleep over at Jill's house. Now, 'the curtian goes up' on Jill lying on the bed and Adrienne on the floor ontop of her sleeping bag as they watch the Christy tv. show "The Road Home" It has just ended, and both girls let out a sigh. Jill: Wasn't that great? Adie: Yeah, but I just wish they showed Christy accepting David's proposal. Jill: Why do you think she would? I doubt that answer even crossed her mind with Neil right there. Adie: Neil's married, so why should she care? And remember, David is really John Wood - so she does marry him Jill: Christy in real life marries David, but remember, Catherine Marshall had a manuscript for a sequel, and she has Christy marry Neil. Adie: Maybe, but the tv show is really different from the book, so how do you know that they'd follow it with this issue? Jill: Look at all the hints they gave you to ensure that she'd marry Neil. Adie: There's so many hints for David too! And what hints are for Neil, a MARRIED man? I never seen her kiss him Jill: No, but he kissed her. Right in the first movie they showed you that he was already deeply in love with her. Remember when Christy was unconcious and Neil was at her bedside? Adie: Alright, but how can you count that as a hint? Jill:Well, maybe its not - but there are countless hints! Adie: Like? Jill: like when...when Christy sees him bathing in the river. What fanfic do you know of that hasnt meantioned that one? Christy, by mountain standards, was suppost to marry him then and there! Adie: But you said so yourself - David was due to marry her the moment her met her because he held her in his arms when he took her into the mission. Jill:Alright, so by mountain standards, she was to marry two men at the same time. But since we dont believe in polygamy, we'll just call it even for that. But look at all the other things that happened to Neil- Adie: - and David. Jill: Okay, okay. Do you remember when Miss Alice was injured and Dr. Ferrand sent Christy to get the anti-tetanus serum from Neil? Adie: Yeah....Dr. Ferrand was really mean to her during that visit. Especially about the telephone line. Jill: Well that's how Miss Alice got hurt. Adie: And David. Remember when he came back the first day Dr Ferrand was there, and his arm was cut? Christy was so worried about him! Jill: She would have been just as worried if it was one of the children! And aren't you forgetting what Neil said to her the day after the storm? Adie: No, I remember. He told Christy she was worth ten Dr. Ferrand's. Jill: Well? Adie: Well what? That doesn't mean anything! Jill: Admit it - even you swooned then! Adie: Well, what about when David insisted on being part of the search party when she was held hostage by Jarvis Tatum? He was injured! Jill: And? Neil was ready to give his life for Christy's. Jarvis would have shot him if Miss Alice and Christy hadn't talked the men out of shooting each other! Adie: But still, he should have been at the mission letting Dan Scott bandage his wound, and he insisted on being there for Christy. Jill: I guess that's why he was always the one to find Christy when she was with Neil. Adie: What do you mean? Jill: Well, David said it himself. Every time they got worried about her being late or missing, it was because she was with Dr. MacNeill - either at his house or in the woods. And the flower crown he made for her - I don't think David would ever do anything so romantic. Adie: But then again, Neil would probably never quote poetry. Jill: Maybe not, but he would do anything for Christy - even take on an apprentice he doesn't want. Adie: And how long did they have to argue about it before he would even consider taking Dan Scott on? It took Sam Houston almost dying before he let his Scot pride back down long enough to say yes. Jill: He might have fought with her about it, but he did have a point. The people of the cove weren't too happy about having a colored man in the area. Adie: Including Neil. Jill: And David. Jill: I never heard David ask Christy if she would miss him. Adie: What are you talking about? Jill: In Green Apples. He told Christy he was going to Low Gap for a few days, and wanted to know if she'd miss him. An what about this - in the show the hostage he says, and I quote - my life for Christy's, theres no comparison. How clearer can you get to proclaiming love for someone than to give up your life for some one elses like Neil was willing to do? Even the bible says that in the book of John: No greater love hath no man that he lie down his life for his friends. Adie: But David was just as willing to. He looked for her after he had already of been shot. Adie: and remember in the show "A man's reach?" Neil knew how much Rob going to college meant to her, and yet he refused to help her out. But Christy didnt even have to ask David, he willingly volunteered. Jill: Yes, but Neil did come around afterwards, and did help Rob, since it was quite apparent that David had not the slightest idea in what he was doing. Adie:Well, what about in 'Babe in the woods'. David was wonderful in that. He had overheard Christy, and knew that she wanted to keep Iris as her own daughter more than anything. And, he reminded her of his proposal so that she could adopt her, since it would have been impossible for Christy to raise Iris properly, and still teach and be a single parent. You didnt see Neil doing that. Jill: Nope, but he was trying awfully hard to impress her. He jumped at the oppertunity to do it too. You know that David and Neil competing was more than just proving to eachother who was the best man, but to Christy too. Adie: Yeah, but David was just as willing. He wouldnt let Neil show off all by himself. He was trying to charm Christy into marrying him. Jill: So what's new? He's trying to do that in every episode. Thankfully, Christy can see right past it. Adie: Not quite. Let's not forget, that the only time Christy ever turns down the Reverand is in the Neil lass fanfics. Jill: Exactly - the voice of the people. Adie: Well, I got to admit, there are alot of things Neil and Christy did together that would persuade you to think they'd get married. Jill: Yes, but there's also some with David that goes deeper, making you believe the same thing. Adie: True, quite true. Jill: You know, both men would really be good for and to her. David is citified, and could understand her issues with that. He could also remind her of home, like Sessil had for him. He could give her a warm loving home no matter where they live. And Neil understands her whole being, but at the same time, is too much of a man to really understand what she needs like David does. Adie: So what's better? Having a man who loves you, but doesnt know you well enough to know how to really understand you, but could give you most of the things you need, or a man that loves you for you, but dont really know how to handle a woman such as you, though he knows you inside out but he can give you only a few things that you need? (both girls laugh lightly) Jill: I havent the slightest idea! But you know whats funny? That it never accures to any one that we're all trying to decide a woman's future, when she is from 1912, and we're in the actual future of 2003. I think she made her choice by now! Adie: Your right, I never thought of that! But still, its an important issue. I think every one wonders about it because they put them selves in Christy's position, and have to wonder what they'd do. Jill: Thinking about it know, I never knew Christy had it so tough! Maybe she would marry David. He isnt so immature at the end, and he is alot like her. Not to meantion, he's not trying to accuse her and argue with her constantly. What kind of enviroment would that be for children? Adie: Yes, but could she ever be truely happy with him? He's a great man for sure, but does he really know her deep enough? Christy loves to talk and discuss things over, when David just says something and it's final, or skips the whole issue all together. Jill: Well, at least he wasnt married before. Christy wouldnt ever feel like a replacement. Adie: But Neil also knows how to make her happy. Jill: And David is romantic. Remember when he quoted Lord Byron? It wasnt just the beauty of the poem, but how he talked to her afterwards. And he's always quick to apologize. You know, maybe David isnt that bad. Well, I never thought I'd say that! Adie: But Neil loves her with all his heart. Even Christy admits that she's not sure if David is in love with her, or in love with love. But Neil's not like that. He knows what true love is, and he knows he got that with Christy. Jill: But you cant marry just for love. Love will fade quick if you can never agree or compromise. But by that time you're stuck. Adie: But surely, if they love eachother enough, they'd be willing to back down to eachother. (both girls pause, lost in thought) Adie: Maybe it really wouldnt be bad for her to marry him. Jill: And she would be equally as happy, if not more, to David. You're right, I wish they would have shown her accept David's proposal. Adie: Why do you think she would? I doubt that answer even crossed her mind with Neil right there. Jill: Neil's married, so why should she care? ________________________________________________________ Our Skit _______________________________________________________ Characters: Jill for the David Dames & Adrienne for the Neil lasses!
